遺伝子組み換え作物
 遺伝子組み換え作物(ＧＭ作物 ＧＮＯｓ）（Genetically Modified Organisms)とは、例えば植物の遺伝子を組みかえることによって除草や害虫からの耐性を高めたり、コスト低減や省力で改良された植物などのことをいいます。しかし遺伝子組み換え作物は安全性に対する不安があるため、ＧＭ表示を義務付けるように消費者が求めました。遺伝子組み換え作物はアトピーなどの原因の一つだといわれています。１９９７年にはＧＭ表示を義務付けを決めました。
